Project Night Night

"Project Night Night donates over 25,000 Night Night Packages each year to homeless children 12 and under who need our childhood essentials to have a concrete and predictable source of security and an increased exposure to high-quality literacy materials during their time of upheaval. Each Night Night Package contains a new security blanket, an age- appropriate children’s book, and a stuffed animal — all nestled inside of a new canvas tote bag. By providing objects of reliable comfort, Project Night Night reduces trauma and advances the emotional and cognitive well-being of the children we serve."

You can help by volunteering, donating items, kids fundraising, and other ways.

The Little Yellow Duck Project

"The Little Yellow Duck Project involves people around the world handcrafting little yellow duck gifts as random acts of kindness that are left in public places for others to find. A special tag on each one invites the finder to take their gift home to brighten their day and to visit this website to register where they found their gift. We hope that the stories and information found here will encourage them to pledge their own random act of kindness by registering to donate blood, bone marrow, organs tissues."

You can help out by making these ducks, there are patterns for crochet, knitting and sewing.

Small Things Matter

"Small Things Matters is committed to educating children with an emphasis on reading which we believe lays down a strong foundation for educational success. We distribute free books to at risk-children at Difference Makers Kokua Foods food distributions at Rolling Terrace Elementary School and Takoma Park Middle School twice each month. Children are treated to a snack, read to, and encouraged to read to others. They are also allowed to choose a free book of their choice to take home to keep and read. We are in the process of developing a literacy program “Bedtime for Books” that will allow us to reach more children that would benefit from free books."

You can help by donating money or crafting material and volunteering.
